KAMAG | SlagPotCarrier: U-frame version

The U-frame version of the slag pot carrier is designed for high-performance and efficient slag transport in steel plants. A key characteristic of this concept is the placement of the slag pot in the rear section of the transporter, where it is positioned between the rear axles. This design offers structural advantages in terms of vehicle length and height, pick-up geometry, and driving dynamics, and is particularly suited for applications requiring high transport capacities.

When is the U-frame version of the slag pot carrier the right choice?

Typical application scenarios include operations with:

  • a compact overall vehicle length in the pick-up position,
  • a low slag pot pick-up height, ideal for restricted clearance heights,
  • fast and smooth pot pick-up to reduce process times,

NEW: Developed for use in electric steel plants (EAF)

Electric steel plants generate higher slag volumes and place increased demands on precise positioning as well as higher payload capacities. This special U-frame slag pot carrier is specifically equipped for these requirements with two steerable rear axle units, enabling controlled and highly precise maneuvering—even during long reverse runs. At the same time, the two rear axles increase the load-bearing capacity of the U-frame and extend the application range to payloads of up to 170 tonnes—developed for real EAF operating conditions.
